On Monday June 30 2025 Translink, in conjunction with Brisbane City Council, will be overhauling the bus network across Brisbane city. This overhaulincludes the following:

• Redesignating the 111 and 160 services as the M1 Metro (Eight Miles Plains to Roma Street Bus Station).
• Introducing five new bus services (26, 109, 127, 182, 197) .
• Consolidation of bus services across the current network as serviced by Transport for Brisbane. This includes the deletion of some services, alterations and mergers of other services, the enhancement of regional bus interchanges (e.g. Carindale, Garden City, Chermside) to reduce overall traffic congestion.
• Redesignating bus stops throughout the CBD and Fortitude Valley to improve traffic flow.

A knock on effect of these changes will be some services within Redland City and Logan City will be impacted.

One aspect that hasn’t been fully explored or articulated is the impact on school services – as the changeover occurs during school holidays, additional resources need to be deployed to ensure school students are are aware of the impact on school services when school returns on July 14 2025.

The overhaul of the bus network is part of a broader effort by Translink to improve public transport throughout South East Queensland to better enable passengers to access employment, education and leisure options.
